Yes I agree, you don't want to be 27 still in the army working all day or coming home once in 2 weeks... or 24 and getting 350nis/month.
What you just described is 1% of the army, and this is exactly why I hate this system so much.
Combat soldiers don't have budget for proper gear, they need to work in the kitchen and clean their base, while people who get to go home every day can have their catering, and spinning and brand new gym and shit. All because of politics.
That's exactly why I left infantry (Kfir) no one give's a shit about you. As a rookie they took us for entire week to guard Adam facility. Which is where all the elite units trains. They are fuckin the elite they cannot stand for a few hours with a weapon? NO. Because as I realised, the army treat the "uniques" and piss on all the rest. When ppl from my base got caught in military police they got 28-35, when I was jobnik they got 2 days with no weekends (delayed the punishment) which kind of an army is this? Why the hell some going to the base for 8 or 2 hours, 5 or 2 days a week while others risk their lives and dedicate their entire world?
I entered the army a stupid little teenager who wanted to be an officer and got out (after full service) a full grown man, yet it's not worth the most horrible time of my life, which actually nothing compares to it.
I wouldn't join the army if I had the chance togo back. Like everything else in Israel - let some other fucker get screw, I'm taking my own faith.
