אני לא יודע אם ריפ יפרסם את זה, אבל כתבתי לו משהו ממני בתור הזדהות:
This is just frustrating.
I'm working at a place JUST LIKE YOU DESCRIBED, same same.
I'm the only worker there that can squat through the whole range of motion over 2 plates. I'm the only worker that ever attempted to do oly-lifts.
The place is FILLED with bodybuilders, wannabe-bodybuilders, and gays (real gays) who wants to "sharpen" and "lengthen" their abs\muscles.
I'm attempting to put guys on linear progression, though, I can't teach them to squat or deadlift because the conventional wisdom says it's dangerous, and the managers don't like when I give a special attention to only one person. Moreover, go find people who want to squat (REAL SQUAT) and deadlift (REAL DEADLIFT, NOT DONE TO HALF RANGE OF MOTION FROM THE TOP WITH STRAPS AND LESS THAN 2 PLATES).
So, I put them on linear progression with leg presses, bench presses, standing barbell presses (though, they give me hard time because it's "dangerous") and curls of course. I tell them to load the weight every time the sets are completed, even if the sets are 8-12 rep sets. What can I do? like you said, this is the conventional wisdom for "what works".
Also, the strong men who train in the facility I work at are stink from steroids, and I'm not impressed with most of the lifts. only a few can squat over 180kg for a full range of motion, actually, I can count them: 6, 4 of them stink from steroids.
I just had to share my part.
