I don't get this, Rip's power snatch is 85kg and squat is 270? this obviously cannot b...
He relatively struggled with a back squat of 315(140kg) for 10reps which according to Epley is the equivalent of 187kg 1RM.

If his power snatch is 85kg then according to Pendlay that's actually reasonable...
A high bar squat should be about 30% higher than a C&J
Snatch should be about 80% of C&J
Power should be about 80% of full
that makes it HighBarSquat = 200% Power Snatch

assuming (and I think I'm being generous here) low bar is about 10% higher than high bar squat then..
LowBarSquat = 2.2*PowerSnatch

aaccording to Epley Rip's squat 1RM is around 187kg (admittedly it's probably a little higher as he didn't go to failure) so then his power snatch should be.....
187/2.2 = 85.

So infact if Rip's power snatch SHOULD be 85kg, but then again, I probably didn't actually understand what the numbers u gave meant...

I want to add that Rip is almost 60years old and has had numerous surgeries in his shoulders and knees, he won't ever perform as well as someone ur age, especially not in something that requries explosive power.
That being said.. I agree Rip isn't the best person to look at for information on olympic weightlifting, but at the same time, for a total noob, it shouldn't matter too much...

I actually don't agree with him in a lot of things (for example saying LB is btr than HB for oly lifters) nor do I look at him for advice on oly lifting, but oly lifters (who I listen to more than him on it) I've noticed don't know much about biomechanics and basically do what they do simply cuz it's worked well...
My point is that Rip is okay to listen to for a total novice, cuz a total novice will learn from anything.

"I have snatched 82.5 and C&Jed 105 as lifts that were not my competitive sport. My best clean was 275 many years ago -- power, I believe. I have been coached by Bill Starr, Tommy Suggs, Jim Moser, Dr. Kilgore, Glenn Pendlay, Angel Spassov, Harvey Newton, and many fellow lifters. I have never claimed to be a good weightlifter, but I have coached the lifts since 1984."

So his snatch (not power) was 82.5kg that makes it kinda petty, so I agree his snatch is pretty shitty.
Tho u can see he has been coached by Pendlay so he does probably know more than OP on the matter, but YES, there r way better sources out there on weightlifting, but for a noob, does it rlly matter that much?
